Shred Before You Recycle!

Warwickshire police recently warned residents of Warwickshire and Coventry that identity thieves could be rummaging through their recycling bins for important documents. Deputy Chief Inspector, Sean Paley pointed out “if you think about it it’s quite an easy way to get personal details. The way people put their waste out has changed.”

With the rise of internet banking, identity theft is easier now that ever. Inspector Paley said “identity theft is the UK’s fastest-growing method used to carry out criminal activity.”

This news shows that although recycling is increasingly more important when it comes to saving the planet, shredding confidential documents is vital for protecting yourself.

To avoid any potential threat of identity theft – always shred before you throw any paper into the recycling bin.
